Who We Are

The Psychological Group specializes in psychological assessments and evaluations. We provide testing, assessment, evaluations, therapy and supportive services including Positive Behavioral Supports, Applied Behavioral Analysis and Learning Based Support services to children, adolescents, adults with neurodevelopmental and developmental disorders. We also provide testing and learning and behavioral supports for children and adolescents with Conduct Disorders and Oppositional Defiant Disorders.

The Psychological Group also provides psychoeducational testing for college, graduate students and those who are experiencing academic difficulties in order to assess for learning disabilities and the possible need for educational accommodations. In addition, the Psychological Group provides focused psychological assessments for pre-surgeries and specialized consultations.

Meet Our Specialists

Dr. Christopher Cooper

Dr. Christopher Cooper holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Louisiana State University. He graduated with an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Southeastern State University and a B.S. from Tulane University. Dr. Cooper has presented and published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals and is a recognized scholar and researcher. He is also a licensed psychologist who specializes and is an expert in neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents and adults with - Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Intellectual Disability, Learning Disability and Neurodevelopmental Disorders. Dr. Christopher Cooper also performs psychoeducational testing for special education services for IEHPs and testing accommodations for the SAT, GRE, LSAT, and MCAT.

Moreover, Dr. Cooper is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists (NRHSP). Dr. Cooper conducts assessments using best practices and empirically designed instruments in order to provide feedback and recommendations. He has extensive experience in collaborating with developmental centers and residential and community group homes, and utilizes a collaborative, empowering and dynamic approach with children, adolescents, adults and their families to meet their needs.

Larry D. Hairston, MHA, LMFT

Larry D. Hairston, MHA, LMFT, is currently the Program Manager for Riverside County’s Managed Care, CARES Line. Mr. Hairston is an experienced healthcare professional who is highly skilled in program design and development of specialized clinical services. He has implemented operational and clinical administrative policies for non-profit and private practice settings. Mr. Hairston is part of the clinical faculty at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine.

His diverse clinical and managerial background encompasses both chemical dependency and mental health services for adults and adolescents. Mr. Hairston has worked for Mental Health Systems in San Diego, California for thirteen years, where he managed several mental health and forensic treatment programs as well as chemical dependency programs.

Upon leaving Mental Health Systems, Mr. Hairston began his second career with Kaiser Permanente. During his tenure, he was promoted to the Director of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine until he retired in March 2013 after 15 years of service.

Mr. Hairston holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling psychology in addition to a Master’s Degree in Health Administration. He is part of the Clinical Faculty at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine where he provides instructions for first and second-year medical students.
